Phillip Drouet, MS, CSCS, CEP, CCRP

Phillip is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist from St. Jude Medical Center in Fullerton, Ca. He obtained his BS in Kinesiology from California State University, San Bernardino and his MS from California State University, Fullerton, with and emphasis in clinical exercise physiology. Phillip published his Masters thesis in The Journal of Exercise Physiology online where he looked at the acute hypotensive effect of upper vs. lower body resistance training exercises in normotensive and pre-hypertensive males. He holds three certifications within the field of Kinesiology, NSCA-CSCS, ACSM-CEP, and AACVPR-CCRP. He loves personal training and also teaches Kinesiology courses at California State University, San Bernardino. Phillip lives in Ontario, Ca with his wife Yvette and they enjoy lifting weights and traveling. He is a Lakers and Packers fan and by default she is too.

Jonathan David, MSN, RN, CCRP, NE-BC 

Jonathan is an RN at Stanford Health Care in the inpatient cardiac rehabilitation department of cardiovascular health. He has been serving in this role since 2015, and eversince his passion has been towards targeted behavior change through the science of cardiac rehabilitation. He sees himself as a constant learner each day, promoting early-enrollment and full participation in outpatient cardiac rehabilitation to his patients. Jonathan is a passionate clinical leader and campaigner for evidence-based practice, promoting patient-centered care delivery through practice standards. He has held various clinical and managerial roles for over 28 years in nursing practice and education. His academic qualifications include a Master of Science Degree in Nursing Education, Master of Science in Psychology, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Bachelor of Science in Psychology and other professional licenses, certifications, and membership to different American Healthcare Associations. He also serves as the Northern California State liaison for the American College of Cardiology.  Jonathan likes to distinguish himself in any environment as a team player, championing critical interventions in achieving the goals collectively. Jonathan looks forward to serving CSCR teams and members, cardiac rehabilitation programs, patients and families. Jonathan lives in San Jose with his wife and three children, two teens, and his toddler, who tries to run the show.

Alex Angeli, MS, CCRP, CEP

Born and raised near Venice in Italy, Alex completed a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology, a Master’s degree in Preventive and Adaptive Exercise, and worked as a personal trainer in his homeland. Upon moving to California, he earned a Master’s degree in Exercise Science at Fresno State. Alex started his career in Cardiac Rehab in 2016 at Saint Agnes Medical Center in Fresno. He really enjoys creating lasting relationships with his patients, and promoting healthy lifestyle in his community. Alex joined CSCR in 2018 as a Northern Representative and became Secretary in 2020. He now lives in sunny San Diego and likes to spend his free time outdoors biking, hiking or camping with his wife, daughter, and two dogs. Alex also enjoys cooking, gardening, woodworking, and playing his guitar.

Chad Glover, M.S. CCRP, RCEP, EIM3

Pulmonary Rehabilitation Certificate AARC/AACVPR.

Chad is a Clinical Exercise Physiologist at Loma Linda University Medical Center (LLUMC) in Murrieta, CA. His background includes experience as an EMT and EMS communication specialist in ground and air ambulance. He then went back to school and obtained a B.S in Exercise Science and a minor in Business Administration at California State University San Bernardino (CSUSB). Two years later he graduated from California Baptist University (CBU) in Riverside, CA with a master’s degree in Clinical Exercise Physiology (CEP). Chad started his professional role as an Exercise Physiologist at LLUMC-Murrieta in 2014 and joined AACVPR in 2015. He has worked and is still working on perfecting his craft in cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. In Chad’s free time he enjoys everything outdoors in nature and road trips with his family.

Julie Rounds, MS, CEP, RCEP, CSCS, CCRP

Julie is a Southern California native, growing up in the San Gabriel Valley and relocating to Orange County after graduating from Cal State Fullerton.  She has over 25 years’ experience in Cardiac Rehabilitation, and is a return to the CSCR board, having served on several committees starting in 1995, with her last role as Outcomes Chair until 2004.  In addition to her cardiac rehab work, she has taught Clinical Exercise Physiology at CSUF. She is a volunteer on the AACVPR certification committee, and likes to spend her free time working on her yard and her house.  She resides in Placentia with her daughter, and her mini-Aussie, Bella.

Eileen Rivera, MS, CEP

As the Southern Representative for CSCR, I am dedicated to improving patient care and advancing evidence-based practices in cardiac rehab. I strive to advocate for both patients and healthcare providers  supporting innovation in the field.
I hold an ACSM Certified Clinical Exercise Physiologist (CEP) certification and a Master’s in Kinesiology, Exercise Science from California State University, Fullerton and in the process of earning my certified Cardiac Rehabilitation Professional (CCRP) certification.
Outside of my CSCR role, I love everything fitness! I compete in powerlifting and I am very involved in my community. I teach fitness classes, offer free sessions to inspire active living, and lead educational workshops on cardiac risk factors at a local gym. I also volunteer with a charity that provides gym memberships to those in need, promoting accessible fitness.
Living with chronic diseases myself, I understand the challenges of managing health. My experience fuels my passion for using exercise as a tool for disease management and overall well-being.


CSCR Northern Representative & Media

Paul Griffin Hunt, MA, ACSM-CEP, CCRP, AACVPR-AARC Certificate in Pulmonary Rehab, CSCS, CSPS, USAW Level 1, CRAT, CCT, CDPH-Licensed Phlebotomy Technician

Paul has been the Clinical Exercise Physiologist on Staff as a Sr. Cardiopulmonary Rehab Practitioner at Adventist Health + Rideout – located in Marysville, CA – since May 2023. Paul has worked as a Clinical Exercise Physiologist since 2019 in five different Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab programs in Northern California. He completed his B.A. in Kinesiology – Fitness and Wellness – at California State University, Chico in 2016. One year later in 2017, he completed his M.A. in Kinesiology – Exercise Physiology and Adapted Physical Activity. Paul was an Exercise Physiology Intern throughout 2016-2017 for over a year at Enloe Hospital’s CardioPulmonary Rehab program. Paul holds many certificates in various organizations and types of exercise training. Paul has been training people in exercise since graduating high school, starting with people with physical and intellectual disabilities at the Santa Rosa Junior College’s Adapted Physical Education program from 2010-2013. Paul has been a Physical Therapy Aide in the past, working in Paradise, CA for a little over one year. Paul also previously developed a Strength and Conditioning Summer Camp while at CSU, Chico for kids ages 10-16 and some of the CSU, Chico Women’s Softball Team. Paul utilizes all of his certifications and professional training experience to bring a holistic aspect of exercise into Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab. Not all exercise is equal; the more we build bridges, the better our patients will do and the more seriously our programs will be taken as an asset to truly provide health care. Aside from his dedication to our field, Paul also used to be an organic vegetable, fruit, and nut farmer and still writes/manages grants, consults on crop production, performs periodic sales representative work, and occasionally works with his wife through the Butte County Office’s University of California Cooperative Extension to help connect local farmers and get fresh local food into Butte County schools. Paul and his wife have two boys, ages 5 and 3, who are awesome people and just as much work as every person said they were going to be before they had their boys!

Alea Fanning, MSN, RN, CCRP

Alea Fanning, MSN, RN, CCRP, has been a dedicated registered nurse for 14 years, following a career as a personal trainer. She earned her BSN from San Francisco State University and her MSN in nursing education from Western Governors University. Alea is a Northern California representative for CSCR and has served on its board of directors for three years. Outside of her professional life, she enjoys spending time with her husband, three children, and dog. In her free time, Alea finds joy in reading, tending to her large plant collection, and staying active through regular exercise.
